Events & Activities

Join in!

Every weekend, our nature experts, both members of staff of the national park authority and volunteer national park guides, invite you to join them for a guided tour or other activities. Whether you choose to explore the wilderness with rangers or a field trip on selected animal and plant species – our MITMACHEN ("Join in!") events are ideal for taking in the beautiful surroundings of Hainich National Park and getting to know its secrets!

MITMACHEN

The MITMACHEN programme offers activities that allow everybody to get to know the national park in more detail as the  seasons change. The annual programme comprises over 100 events with emphasis on different topics, e.gB. forest, trees, animals, plants, mushrooms, birds, history or photography. Many activities are aimed specifically at children and families.

On guided walks with a national park ranger or a volunteer national park guide, you will learn fascinating details about the national park that would be overlooked without someone pointing it out to you. Our experts answer your questions, show you special features and explain why the heart of the national park belongs to the world heritage of humanity. The walks take around 2 – 3 hours and do not require registration.

The event calendar changes annually and is available online or as a leaflet in all national park information centres and the tourist information centres of neighbouring towns.
